Q. Do you specialize in wedding cakes?
A. About 75% of our business consists of wedding orders, however, we also do a large number of special occasion orders as well. We also do orders for corporate events and large parties as well. At this time, we do not offer wholesale cakes.

Q. Do you ship your cakes?
A. We are so sorry but as of now we are not shipping our cakes…they are too fragile!!! We do, however, deliver cakes in and around the Greater Jacksonville area! For other areas check out the designers by State & Country listing.

Q. How much do the cakes cost?
A. We do have a general price list, but because each cake is one-of-a-kind most custom cakes are priced per person. Because of the care we give to each order we must require a minimum of $200 on all of our wedding cakes. Our pricing starts at $4 per serving. Pricing is based on the complexity of design and the number of people being served. Email or call us about your specific event and we can design an exclusive edible work of art.

Q. How far in advance should I order a cake?
A. We are often booked up many weeks or months ahead of time so the sooner the better to reserve your place on our calendar. Your date is reserved for you when a deposit is made, you can mail a deposit in advance of your tasting appointment but it is not necessary. Please call or email to find out our availability.

Q. Do you make Kosher cakes?
A. Unfortunately at this time we are not under Rabbinical supervision to create Kosher cakes.

Q. Are individual cakes, cupcakes and cookies available?
A. Signature Bakery offers individual cakes starting at $10 each. We also offer cupcakes, petit fours and iced cookies, but we do require a minimum order of three dozen. These are all done by special order only. We do not offer pastries for walk-in customers as we focused our business exclusively on custom orders due to the large volume of orders that we receive.

Q. Do you offer tasting's? When may I come for one?
A. We offer tasting's for wedding and celebration cakes for orders over 50 guests only. Our tasting are conducted Tuesday through Saturday here in our showroom. We try to accommodate everyone's schedule, so please contact us and we will make every effort to work within your schedule. If you have an upcoming cake-tasting appointment with us, we ask that you visit our Cake-Tasting page and review the information there before coming in for your appointment.

Cake Tasting's and cake ordering information

Stover's conducts one hour cake-tasting by appointment only. If you are interested in having a cake-tasting appointment with us, you will need to call to setup an appointment. Due to the large volume of appointments that we conduct, we cannot accommodate walk-ins for cake-tasting appointments. Directions to our bakery are available via email to you or over the phone when you make your appointment. Please contact us at 942-703-0245

Before coming in for you cake-tasting appointment, please read through the following information for your cake-tasting appointment. These are some general guidelines to observe no matter what bakery you decide to visit.

1. Please arrive at your appointment on time.

Please print this out and bring it with you just in case you should get lost. Almost all bakeries conduct their appointments on an hourly basis with each appointment starting at the top of the hour. When you arrive late, this causes the following appointments for the rest of the day to start off later and later in an attempt to make up for starting late for your appointment.

2. If you cannot make it to your appointment, please call and let us know at least three hours or as soon as possible in advance that you are canceling. This will be greatly appreciated.

We make up plates with multiple samples of cakes that you can taste prior to your appointment. When you do not show up, your cake samples must be thrown out. While almost all bakeries offer cake-tasting appointments for brides at no charge, these appointments are not free to the bakery. If you give us enough notice that you are not going to be able to make it, we can open up the appointment slot and fill it with another bride who may want to come in at that time.

3. Our showroom can accommodate three people per cake-tasting.

Stover's has a small showroom and have only enough space for the person conducting the appointment, the bride and groom, and one other guest of their choosing. We have had brides bring anywhere from 3 to 10 people with her to the cake-tasting appointment. Unfortunately, we simply cannot provide enough cake nor do we have enough chairs and space for this many people. At the cake-tasting, we provide one plate with approximately 3 to 4 bite-size samples of cake. Please let us know if there are any special flavors that you would like to sample.

Additionally, while it is always good to bring others with you to help you decide on your design, we have found that if you have more than two other people with you, brides tend to get overwhelmed with all of the input that they are receiving. They have a difficult time making any kind of decision because they want to make sure that they please everyone who is there. Keep in mind that this is your wedding. At the end of the day, it is your wedding.

4. May I bring my small children with me?

Children under the age of 12 tend to get very bored and sometimes disruptive during cake-tasting appointments. We recommend finding alternate arrangements for children under the age of 12, and particularly for those who are 3 or under. Toddlers simply cannot sit still for an hour. Crying children are very disruptive to the other cake-tasting appointments that our wedding cake consultants are conducting with other customers, so you please try to find a babysitter for children who are this young.

5. Bring pictures of cakes that you like with you.

We love it when brides know exactly what they want. Keep in mind that not all pictures of wedding cakes are ‘doable’. Sometimes cakes appear on web-sites or magazines that are just for show. Some cakes are made for display only and are made of Styrofoam dummies and are not stable if made with real cake. We will do our best to come up with a design that is as close as possible to your picture. If you have multiple designs that you like, many times we can find similar elements in each picture that we can pull together into a unique, one-of-a kind cake that is custom just for you.
Keep in mind that each cake creation is a work of art done by hand; therefore, variations in final results from any picture you bring in will occur, even if it is a picture from our website. Variations will vary based on your budget and the cake designer.

6. I have no idea what I want. Can you help me design something?

That is what our wedding consultants are here for! We have many more pictures for you to browse through in our showroom that are not on our website. However you should browse the Internet (we recommend google.com images) to find ideas so that you don't come to your tasting appointment blind. We can also help you design your cake by discussing your wedding colors, theme, wedding dress, and reception site with you. We also utilize false tiers to help you get the cake built up to the size you want should you not need the number of servings a larger cake would serve.

7. If you have already been to other consultations....
Feel free to bring that information to the appointment to help you organize all the options available to you. Also you may want to pick up a 3 ring binder and page covers to organize all your wedding information.

8. Do I have to decide to go with you at the appointment?
You can take as much time as you need to think about going with us. While we cannot give you a copy of our estimate, please feel free to take notes during the consultation. Please keep in mind that we can only do a limited number of weddings each weekend, so once a weekend is booked up, it is no longer available for other bookings.

9. Deposit and Final Balances
To book the date and time for your wedding, we require 25% down at the time of booking. This can be done via cash, check, cashiers check money order or VISA. We are sorry, but we do not accept American Express, Master or Discover at this time. The final balance is due two weeks before the date of your wedding. Any changes can be made to your order up to two weeks before your wedding and the price of your order will be adjusted accordingly.

10. We do not allow changes to any part of the cake order agreement by anyone other than the bride and groom regardless of who pays.  Often persons other than the bride and groom agree to buy the cake as a gift, however the cake is ultimately the decision for the bride & groom. This is information is included in our cake order form that you will sign when you book your order with us.

We hope that all this information is helpful and you feel educated and ready to order your cake.
